Nearly two-thirds of LGBTQ Americans report having experienced discrimination in their everyday lives. The new Congress is an opportunity to advance federal legislation that protects all of our communities, especially those who are LGBTQ, Asian, immigrants, and young people. 

NQAPIA is pushing Congress to support the following bills:

• LGBT Equality Act to outlaw discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender-identity in employment, housing, education, and public spaces. 
• President Biden’s US Citizenship Act of 2021 will give 11 million undocumented immigrants a path to citizenship (including 1.5 million Asians and 1/4 million LGBTQ), keep LGBT Asian immigrant families together, reduce visa backlogs and expand visas and green cards for workers.

At the end of the day, every person should be judged on their merits, not their sexual orientation or gender identity -- that is the American way. Everyone deserves a fair chance to earn a living, provide for their family and live free from the fear of harassment or discrimination.
