NQAPIA Mahjong Afternoon

Come play mahjong or blackjack with us! 

Saturday, January 11, 2020 | 3:00 PM EST  to 5:00 PM EST

Join us in community for fun games of mahjong or blackjack. We will have teachers for those who are beginners, and an expert table for the seasoned players who need no guidance. This is a great opportunity to learn how to play mahjong or blackjack and meet new people.

$15/person, or $60 for a table

THE GAME
AND SETUP

Tables of 4 will be set up for learners (those who have never played before), beginners, and competitive players. Learner/beginner tables will have teachers to guide them.

We will provide mahjong sets, tile pushers, racks, and chips.

The event is a fundraiser and we are asking for individual players to buy in at $15 per player, of $60 for groups of 4. Players will play by chips. Each player will receive 16 chips to start.

Nobody will be turned away for inability to pay. Email Conor at conor@nqapia.org for a limited income discount. 

FOOD & DRINK

Some food will be provided for all guests, paid for by NQAPIA. 

There will be a cash bar available for drinks from the restaurant.

TEACH OTHERS!

NQAPIA is recruiting experienced players who can staff Learners or Beginners tables. Any variation of Mahjong rules are welcome and will be posted. All Mahjong teachers will be offered $15 for teaching the game to 3 other people. The event is a fundraiser and so some are donating their $15 back to NQAPIA to advance our work for immigrants’ rights and LGBTQ+ equality. All Mahjong teachers must arrive by 2:30pm to get oriented and stay until at least 4pm.
